Aww yes goals every new or second time plus mamas has daily goals she has simply to make it through each day. I am no exception and for me being a some sort of a routine makes my life so much easier plus my children seem to thrive when on a more set schedule.
We have a pretty busy schedule with just Cecelia's dance lessons and her preschool, so we work around that and it seems to be working out for our benefit so far.
After I had Arlo I made it a goal to take a shower everyday! I know that it may seem gross to think of someone not showering, however if you have ever had a newborn or a toddler it can be hard while you are at home all day with them to make that time to get in the shower, especially when you don't have someone relieving you at the end of the day...cough cough...Daddy...cough.
Since our Daddy travels a lot for work it's just me and the kiddos, which makes getting something as easy as a shower in everyday so difficult. However, I have been successful at getting that shower, sometimes 2 in everyday!
It truly makes such a difference in my mood. I may not blow dry my hair or put on make-up or even put on proper undergarments but I'm clean.
Another goal is making sure C gets to all of her activities on time every day she has to be there.
So far it's been a success! She has to be at school by 8 but I'm able to drop her off by 7 if I want so some days I let her sleep in and we make it there 5 minutes before school sometimes she gets there at 7 and gets to eat breakfast with her friends, it all depends on how the morning starts off.
This kid runs like clock work when it comes to his eating schedule especially from about 2pm until the following morning. Every 3-4 hours 3oz at a time and then sleeps immediately after. He usually wakes up about an hour before his bottle and we play or cuddle or he bounces. This kid loves to be moving at all times, he loves his bouncer he could sit in it all day if I kept my foot on it and bounced all day. I would have some strong calf muscles that's for sure.
He also loves to have music on in the morning it really makes a difference in his mood, which is crazy since he is only 4 weeks old.
However, this is all great but this boy needs to get on a more regulated schedule, I think I have given him and myself enough time to recover and to get him used to being on the outside.
We are already one step down with a bedtime routine. Him and C both go down at 8-8:30. I usually put C down first and she lays in bed and reads herself a book and usually passes out about 15 minutes later.
I feed Arlo around 8 or 8:30, change and swaddle him up and lay him in his bassinet. I turn his sound machine to crickets, offer his paci, he usually refuses and walk out of the room.
Boom 5 minutes later the boy is snoring up a storm and he will sleep from anywhere from 11:30-12:30, wake to eat another 3oz, pass out and fall back asleep until 5 or 6. I call that pretty good.
So now we need to work on a daily routine, getting in the set of morning nap and afternoon nap.
A little late night feeding deserves a picture of course. Arlo loves to hold his hands but I'm certain he has no clue what he is touching just yet it's still super cute to watch.
Now according to my sweet husband I need to start carving some time to do things for myself. I thinking he is referring to my feet and that a pedicure is in order :). Going to a movie or out with my friends and possibly not waiting till the last minute to work on homework.
Baby steps...right.
