Letters to my Son:

Dear Arlo,
Oh my dear boy, I still have not come to terms with how absolutely in love with you I am.
I had made some predictions about you before you joined our family and some of them were correct and others we wont know till the future. However, the love that your Daddy and I have for you is stronger than we imagined.
We know what it's like to love a child, you sister is one of our greatest accomplishments and gifts we have ever been given. So we thought we understood how we would feel when you entered our world and once again we were struck down by how much we forget and how much the feeling of bringing another life into this world can bring you to your knees.
You are everything and nothing like your sister.
You are your Daddy's boy and there is no denying who you look like, I already knew that you would resemble him to a T.
You have the fuzziest golden hair and when you get even the slightest bit warm it curls up in the back.
Your eyes are a beautiful shade of navy blue but I'm sure they will change through the next couple of months.
You have hands that are a miniature version of you fathers.
People ask if you are a good baby, and in all aspects you are a very good baby.
I mention things that I believe about your tiny little personality to people and they wonder how I would even assume things about such a new baby, but I think people forget that I am your mother and that I have had you all to myself for months now.
You may resemble your Daddy but you have your Mama's temper and also the hardship of calming down once upset.
You love to be swaddled and cuddled.
This is something I am not use to, but am growing more and more fond of each day.
I enjoy that if you are upset that I am the one to help you calm down, I hope it stays like this till you are an adult. Hopefully, I can teach you how to do it on your own but it feels good to be needed.
You are starting to be more alert and really pay attention to my face and you make the cutest noises, when you are really focusing on something.
Arlo, you have to much strength for how tiny you are and I know you will outgrow me soon, so I'm soaking up all the cuddles and loving that you are needing now.
I have truly enjoyed having a son, and you have passed any and all expectation I had in my mind of what you would be like.
You may come from a long line of tradition on your Daddy's side and have rather a large name to fill as you grow. We know you will make a million and one mistakes and that you will fall and need help getting back up and we are proud to be the people to help you do that.
We have no further expectations for you than to be happy, healthy and for you to always know just how much we love you.

L-
Mama
