Anniversary Dinner
Last Friday the Husband and I went out for dinner for our 5 year anniversary. We dropped the kids off with Grandma and Grandpa Stanley around 6:30 and off we went for our first time having a kid free meal since Arlo was born.
We never can decide on food when we go out so we went with a never fail favorite for us. P.F Changs. Of course it being Friday night and peak dinner time we expected a wait and we were offered around 45 minutes. We actually don't mind waiting when we go out for dinner together it gives us extra time to grab a drink at the bar and start our night off.
I had my first glass of wine since pregnancy and enjoyed it greatly.
A few months before Arlo was born I made a committment to try to take my time, whether it was when it was just Nate and I or when we were spending quality time with the kids, I needed to learn to slow down a bit.
So far I have been doing a great job at it and actually feel less stressed out when we are out. Nate and I took our time eating. We even ordered dessert and devoured our meals slowly and with lots of conversation.
We talked about all sorts of things but for some reason no matter what may be on our plates and no matter that our children aren't even in grade school we always get into the converstaion about where we would love to see our children go to college.
We both have our opinions but for the most part we just want to see them go and go in a timely manner. I think we will be just as excited when the time comes to start thinking about college with our kids as our kids will be to leave our home :).
I believe that we will feel so accomplished once we get our children to college, I'm sure it has a lot to do with our decisions as young adults to not go to school after high school. Now that I'm in school and almost done and Nate who decided that college wasn't something he wanted to do. I think we will both live vicariously through our kids and all the great things they will learn and experience when they head off to hopefully a college that nate and I have on our short little list of options we think would be great!
We do understand that our children will most likely surprise us and go down the path they are suppose to, we just hope that our loving guidence and life experience will hopefully push them in the right direction.
So our dinner was great and we really enjoyed each other and then after we had filled our bellies and picked up our children it felt so nice to tuck them away in our home and cuddle in without my 9 month pregnant belly getting in the way.
It was a great start to a wondeful weekend.
And for a little viewing pleasure.
