Happenings

Summer is in full swing around here and with that comes a major heat wave that has landed in Iowa and has decided to stay. So we have been getting creative on ways to have fun but stay cool.
Family game night, have you ever watched your mother-in-law do an impression of Urkel? It really is entertaining.

Trips to the river to cool off. This year C is very independent when she has her life jacket on and we let her explore with one of us close by and I have to say that her happy place is being in the water she thrives.
Arlo enjoyed his little tug boat that his sister also enjoyed at the same age. Wow how 3 years just flies by.

Of course with so many things going on during the weekends she usually falls victim to sleep induced comas :)
Of course every few months someone tends to have a bit of throwing up issue I'm not sure yet if it has to do with her acid reflex or she simply ate something that didn't agree with her. Either way she is a champ when it comes to getting sick. She asked me for a bowl to "spit" in and I went and grabbed her usually "spitting" bowl and about five minutes later she sat up grabbed it and proceeded to "spit" in it.
She definitely does not get this type of calmness when getting sick from me, I hate "spitting" and usually refuse to do it.

I had a nice drive alone in my grandfather's old truck that Nate drives around and there is just something so inviting about an old truck, classic country music and an open gravel road to clear your head.

Since it's so hot out Nate has been doing exercising in Arlo's room joined by Cece, they were having a sit-up contest. Arlo had no interest in working out :)

I think my son is absolutely adorable but every time I look at him I can't believe how blonde he is. I am 50% Italian I have had dark hair since the day I was born, dark eyes and my skin can get very dark if I am outside for long periods of time.
So you can imagine how I just can't get over how light haired my son is, the funny thing is he has a bit of olive skin and the prettiest green eyes.
I knew when we found out we were having a boy that he would be the spitting image of his father, but I'm glad a little bit of me has come through.

Being home with these two is like living in a children's book. Every morning they always seem to get into something, even Arlo at his young age follows right in step with his sister in creating huge messes and laughing at me while I tell them they are going to pick it up.
Cece's favorite things: "working" on her computer, painting and coloring, "reading" books and as always putting on shows in our family room in all of her dress up clothes.
Arlo's favorite things: anything with wheels, his Elmo telephone that he likes to crawl around with and slam into the floor, food, watching Cece's shows, burrowing into his blankets and "talking" and did I mention food!
Tomorrow is my favorite holiday EVER! I love the 4th of July and we live in the best little town to celebrate. Parade, friends, food and fireworks we are always so blessed to live by our close friends and our children's friends that special occasions like this keep getting better as they get older.
Enjoy your holiday however you choose to celebrate.
