I know summer doesn't end until mid September, but in my book when the State Fair has ended and my first born has been in Kindergarten a whole week, I think it's safe to say that we are wrapping summer up here in our home.
We have done so much as a family this summer and even more so than in previous summers because Nate has been home at night to enjoy it with us. We have soaked in the late nights with walks and runs to get ice cream. We have found ourselves driving the not so driven roads of our small town. Late night swims in the river along with late night drives with windows down and music playing, while the kiddos drift off.
We have had many pool days, late afternoon naps, taught Cece how to ride her bike without training wheels, watched Arlo's fascination grow with all things sports and trucks. We went to fairs and ate all those super good, super bad for you, foods. I have enjoyed getting up before the sun and working out, welcoming a new day and being thankful that I get to do so.
Nate and I have made time for ourselves by going on a lot of dates with and without our friends. Going to concerts, dinners, driving around because sometimes we just didn't feel like doing anything.
I have worked on new recipes and made an effort to bring my camera around so that I could capture all these wonderful memories. I enjoyed afternoons and evenings with some of my dearest friends and laughed harder then I have laughed in a long time.
We have sent our daughter off to school and we have been hearing cicadas bringing in the end of summer through our open windows. I have to say summer has never been my favorite season, but this year it has definitely given fall a run for it's money.
As summer comes to an end we have had a steady flow of invitations come through our mail for fall weddings, bridal showers, baby showers and bachelor and bachelorette parties. We have Cece and Arlo's birthdays to look forward to and of course celebrating 7 years of marriage. Fall is always something I look forward to but it seems this year more than most we have a lot to celebrate.
So in the nicest way possible I say "See ya later summer!" It was a good run and I know we have a few more weeks of 90 degree weather and humidty but with all that we have to look forward to I think I can muddle through.
Until Next year.
