With negative degree temperatures forecasted for the entire weekend my thoughts on what the kids and I were going to do including a whole lot of nothing.
I know there is only a few more weeks of this brutal cold and eventually Cecelia will want to be out doors. She is now at the age were she wants to play with the neighbor kids, because most of those kids are in her grade or she already plays with them during recess. I wont be able to keep her inside. Arlo will want to be outdoors riding his scooter, which will require me to be outside as well. So I took advantage of this rare weekend, when we didn't have one single plan and I didn't make any attempt to fill our time.
The kids played dress up and played at the dinner table. We made messes upon messes and then cleaned them up only to wreak the house again. I watched Netflix in bed while the kids napped for 2 1/2 hours each day. I think I watched a total of 20 hours worth of Lego cartoons to appease my 2 year old. Our outdoor gear has been in the same place since we walked in the house on Friday evening. My hair has stayed in the same bun for a majority of the weekend. Our couch has been our focal point. The kids and I would end up wrapped in blankets watching movies and staying up past their bedtime.
It was a good weekend. It was a much needed break from the normal comings and goings of our regular routine. It wasn't completely unproductive. Laundry was done, food was prepared, hugs and kisses were given out. Cecelia figured out not to get close to Arlo while he was swinging his bat and Arlo figured out what happens when you hit your sister with your bat. Tears were shed, timeouts given, apologies made. There was books read, homework finished and flashcards practiced.
Monday will come with all it's potential for another busy week. However, that just means another week closer to Nate coming home. We miss him around here.
