Early Mornings

For the past two weeks I have woken up to two cold feet sneaking under my legs. I roll over and see that it's about 5:30am. You don't say anything, just hunker down and curl up for another hour or so of sleep. This only happens during the week when Dad is gone.

We have never been co-sleepers in our house but we have always shared the bed when it is needed. I'm not sure where the need is coming from for these early morning snuggle sessions but I will treasure it while it lasts.

My cuddler has always been C. If you go in to say goodnight she will wrap her arms around your neck and go in for a squeeze. She has to be connected in one way or another when she shares the bed.

On top of our sweet girl coming in, the past 4 mornings, about 5 minutes after Cece I hear soft snores coming from my left side. I turn and I have seen my Boy sprawled out on the chair next to my bed. Leg hanging over one arm, another dangeling off the edge and he has wedged himself into the corner, snoring and wrapped in his blanket.

Our Boy is not a cuddler but he does like to be close and that's close for him. When I told Nate of my recent early mornings, he just laughed and said Arlo must be just watching over his girls.

My drive to capture moments is so strong I just want to jump up and grab my camera. However, I know the moment I get up they will follow and so I just lay there, while the sun starts to creep up and the warmth from my daughter fills my heart and the snores from my son makes me smile. It's a different kind of wake up call and one that I know will soon pass, so I'm going to soak it up and hope that in my old age I can remember it.

For the record the only time I ever instructed her to kiss him was in 2012. I also find it interesting how he has a general disinterest in the whole kiss thing every year. He loves us but he also tolerates us as well.
