The most joyful things are often the unexpected!

So in the happy news of my soon to be baby niece or nephew it is best that I convey my complete joy in a letter.

To Baby Bird Howe-

You are only the size of small fruit but the love that you have placed over your Mama is greater than anything you will ever imagine. You see little bird, your Mama happens to be my sister and I think she is just going to knock your socks off when you’re born, you have no idea the love you will be welcomed into by the women you will soon call your Mother. No worries little one your father is a pretty outstanding man as well.

Please understand that you have become the most joyful unexpected miracle in my sister’s life and to that I have to give you a very large Thank You! You were a flame that was blown out a long time ago, for she was told it was very much out of the question for her to have children. I can’t begin to convey the happiness she feels for you (even though you have the tendency to make her very ill), she keeps going and doing everything in her power to take as good of care of you as she can.

I on the other hand I can not wait to meet you, so that I may snuggle and love on you as if you were my own. You happen to be a very lucky baby, love, because you have the coolest Aunt and Uncle, who have already dreamed about what you will look like, how much we will be able to squeeze on your little legs, and teach you naughty words, as your Mama has done with your cousin Cecelia. You have been loved by us from the minute your Mama called us frantic about a positive pregnancy test. We were listening carefully as she ranted about how this has to be impossible, but giggling quietly and I’m sure there was a high five that occurred between your Uncle Nate and I as well (sorry sis). We happen to be very much in love with babies and children of all kind, and even more so with you since you share my blood as well as Cecelia’s and hopefully my divine cuteness.

Your cousin Cecelia, who goes by lots of different names but you may call her C for now, has been talking about the baby in Aunt Kassie’s belly for a couple of months and is starting to wonder how long you will be cooking in there, to her unhappiness you still have a good 6 months left till we will allow you to grace us with your presence. Do not doubt that she will protect you like you were her own as well, and even though you may live in different towns and may go to different schools, as you grow she will never fail to be by your side, she tends to have the feistiness of your Mama and I, and for those who do not see you joyful enough of a blessing, they will have more then just your parents to deal with. You will be born into a family of a different nature, but a family we are.

I love you small one, along with many of your other family members as well. We will be patiently waiting your arrival in early Spring. It will definitely get us through the harsh Iowa winter we will for sure see. But the thought of your upcoming birthday will be the light at the end of the tunnel!
