We had another great weekend.
I'm learning that Nate and I need more time together doing fun stuff together, it really brightens our spirits and makes us much happier individuals.
Usually the routine is if one of us wants to go out the other stays at home with the kiddos.
Well after our dinner anniversary I realized that it just started our weekend off so well.
So this past Friday we called our wonderful baby-sitters Grandma and Grandpa, and asked for a little night out on the town.
Of course they always want to watch our babes so off they went while I got a shower all to myself and quiet time for almost an hour!
Nate returned to pick me up and we went down to Winterset (a small town south of us) for a street band and to hang out with some friends.
I had two drinks and was just about done for the night :).
We danced and talked and had such a great time.
We weren't out late maybe till midnight which was just enough time and we picked up the kids and tucked them in for the night and it just felt so good to have had such an enjoyable adult time with my husband and at the end of the night our little family was all tucked away and happy.
However, the next morning I nursed a bit of hang over.
So we lounged around our home the entire day.
My Dad swung by to visit and eventually Nate and C went out to check out deer or something(?).
This is what our day consisted of.
Finally around 7 Nate and I decided that we wanted to watch a movie and get some food.
So off we went to redbox for Transformers and McDonalds.
Arlo was tucked away by 8 and C quickly followed.
Sunday we went back to Winterset for the Covered Bridge Festival.
Since its in early October, it's pretty much the last time you are going to get fresh squeezed lemonade shakers, funnel cake and any type of food out of a stand.
It was all delicious.
We walked around the square, walked around the shops and of course watched the parade.
C of course made out with a full bag of candy and Arlo seems to do best snuggled up and being carried in our sling. That boy has an obsession with being close to his Mama.
We came home grilled and started talking about what we should do next weekend.
I have never been a huge fan of going out every weekend since we had our kids but I've realized that since I'm home everyday all day with the kids until Nate comes home on Friday, and since he likes to go out and is naturally super social. I think going out together is a great compromise and returning home to the kids at a decent time works for us.
Mom and Dad are happy makes for happy children too.
