Mornings

If you want entertainment in your morning routine you should consider stopping by the Stanley home any time from 5:30am to 7:00am, the stuff that is happening between our walls would cover your basis for things to laugh at for at least the rest of the week.
When Nate is home during the Winter life is crazy, you would think it would be the opposite with the extra set of hands to help with the kiddos. Unfortunately it's just one more person to get out the door before 7am.
Our boy is our morning bird, he is up every morning with out fail at 5:30am mumbling and rocking himself in his crib. It's my alarm clock, without fail the boy relies on that extra hour in his crib to start his day. He is almost always happy in the morning, unlike the girl across the hall from him.
To get C out of the bed is like trying to haul a 17 year old boy out after being out doing Lord only knows till 2am. Yes, she is worse. I go in there every morning without fail by 6:15am turn her light on and throw her clothes out for the day onto her bed and yell "C it's time to get up your clothes are on the bed, 10 minutes!" Then I lock myself into the bathroom to get ready, literally 10 minutes later I open the bathroom door to look into her room and that girl has gotten out of bed alright, but only to get up turn the light back off and crawl her tiny butt back into her bed. EVERYDAY! So by this time we have music blaring through the house to whatever station Nate is in the mood for that day, I wont keep you guessing it's always the most twangiest old school country ever. Arlo is now full on talking in his crib and has somehow pulled a baseball bat, car and book out of his toy basket next to his crib and is playing happily while some choice words are being said between his delightful sister and I about if she doesn't have her clothes on in the next 5 minutes she will wish she was in a nightmare and not standing in her pajamas still!
Nate has emerged from the bedroom half asleep and trying to make coffee that he will always fail to leave on the counter after walking out the door and then runs back while trying to also remember where he left his phone, wallet and belt.
Somehow Arlo ends up ready and in the kitchen in his "spot" which is up against one of the floor cabinets with whatever we decide to throw out at him in a bowl that's hopefully not expire or has been sitting out from yesterday morning. Typing that out kind of makes him seem like our dog, but I promise he loves his spot and the food. No worries the kids will eat anything and has never complained yet.
C is now stomping around the house because I have in not so nice terms told her to get her damn shoes on for the 3rd time and have threaten that playing with her leapster will be a faint memory if she doesn't get it together.
While this is all going down I some how manager to get myself out of pajamas, dress, hair out of my face, some sort of resemblance of an effort to look decent for work and Nate is still standing around looking for his wallet.
So after 45 minutes all 4 of us end up in the kitchen either shoving food in our mouths, lunches in bags, no one has managed to step on Arlo yet or spill his food, Nate magically found whatever he was looking for at that moment and amazingly Cece and Arlo are both in coats, shoes and waiting at the door while Nate and I exchange glances that say "how the f did that happen?" We shrug, hugs and kisses are exchanged between all 4 of us and we all manage out the door while deciding how much extra time we might have to a special trip to Casey's for a donut.
This is a typical weekday morning between my little family and myself, and it's my most favorite time of the day with my loves. We may be stressing and non-parental words are most likely coming out of my mouth, there is always some food left on the floor by the boy and C has her shoes on the wrong feet ( I swear she does it on purpose) and Nate hasn't been to work by 7 for 3 months but on the flip side there is music playing through our house and I see my kids bopping their heads to the beat, Nate and I always take way to long with our hugs and kisses, there is always 10 or more I love you's exchanged and the excitement of getting to come home and throw ourselves in to bedtime and the babes still have that fresh just woken up look still on their faces like newborns and they still have the sweet smell from sleeping in warm cozy beds.
New days can be exciting and going to work may not be the greatest idea for everyone's day but my kids love the time at their school, Nate enjoys his company at work and I get to have a chance to miss my favorite people while helping provide for them.
Life is stressful, my temper is short and unforgiving, Nate is impulsive, C...well C is 4 enough said and the Boy although quiet is like a volcano waiting to explode when triggered. We have our issues we learn to work around each other or take the heat when one or all of us has had enough. We are a family we will always be a family and I think with as many years as I have left on this earth it will still never be enough to satisfy my need to be with them.
