On our way home from South Carolina we went through Tennessee so we could show Arlo the Smoky Mountains. We weren't there long but we got out at one point and did a little exploring so the kids could use up some energy and we could stretch our legs.
Arlo wasn't the biggest fan of the ocean, he eventually grew to like it after a few days but the mountains he instantly loved. You could see the awe on his face when we would get out and look around. He liked climbing the rocks on our hike and throwing stones into the creek.
I know we would like to make a trip down there to spend some more time exploring with kids, but we just couldn't fit it in this time. Nate and I have so many places that we want to show the kids and experience with them. We want to educate them on experiencing places and things that they don't normally get to, it's all part of how we want to raise them. We don't want them to be scared of the unknown but to embrace it. When they get older they may want to move away or go to college out of state and even though they will always have a home to come back to, we want them to always feel comfortable stepping out into the world.
It's a big and scary thing, the world, if you've never had many experiences outside of your comfort zone and we want them to be use to stepping out of our small town (that we love calling home) and be prepared for the unknown.
Here's to more adventures!
