My girl and her ocean.
This girl graduated from preschool this week and even though she wasn't able to actually go to her preschool graduation, we tried to make it special for her while we are on vacation. So on Tuesday, when she was suppose to be at her preschool graduation we decided to take her out to one of our favorite places to eat in Myrtle Beach and celebrated with cake and presents back at the house afterwards.
Nate and I were sitting on the beach watching her run around and play and I just said "I can't believe that we have a 5 year old, a little girl that will be in Kindergarten in just a few short months. How the heck did that happen?"
He just smiled and said "I don't know."
Time has flown.
We know she will be one of the youngest kids in her class and we know that there can be fall backs to that but also positives as well.
It's such a scary thing to send your kids off to school, hoping that you have prepared them for the long road a head of them.
We remind our girl everyday, that school is a necessity in our lives and that no one can take your education away from her and that along with experiencing life everyday, soaking up as much knowledge that is offered to her is going to take her far in life.
They do assessments to decide if your child is ready for pre-kindergarten or if they are ready to go straight to kindergarten. We knew with her age and Cece's very short attention span that pre-kindergarten was an option. We received the letter the next week that their referral was for her to go into kindergarten. That means that she proved that even though she may be young she can run with the older kids as well.
I was beaming, that is really the only word I can use to describe how proud of her I was. I know it takes a lot for her to keep her hyper-ness in check and her attention on the right things.
She is a special girl, she is our girl and we are so proud of her. We know that there will be many moments in her school career when she will fail and many when she will soar and we have made it perfectly clear to her ever since she started preschool that we will always be here for her.
I'm so looking forward to seeing her grow both physically and intellectually in the coming years.
I know she will be our child that will always keep us guessing.
